Ultimately, the reasons for pretending can be complex and may vary depending on the individual and the circumstances. **

It's important to communicate openly and honestly in any relationship. Pretending to be someone you're not can lead to feelings of resentment and disconnection. It's better to be authentic and true to yourself, even if it means facing difficult conversations or situations. It's okay to express your feelings and needs, and to seek understanding and compromise with those around you. **

One can pretend that a number is not in service by using a fake "out of service" message or tone on their phone. This can be done by recording a message that says the number is no longer in service and setting it as the voicemail greeting. Additionally, one can also block the number or set it to "do not disturb" mode to give the impression that the number is not in service. However, it's important to note that pretending a number is not in service may not be ethical or legal in some situations. **
